Kohima: The International Human Rights Council Nagaland State Chapter is demanding justice for Viloto. The 30-year-old man died after a savage beating at Balijan on September 9. He suffered critical injuries during the assault along the Dimapur-Assam border. Doctors admitted him to the intensive care unit at District Hospital, Dimapur. He died shortly after.
Akavi N Zhimomi, the council president, expressed shock over the incident. Viloto was an orphan with little support. Zhimomi stated that assaulting a human being is a serious criminal act. He added that the death makes the situation even more grave. The council remains deeply concerned about the motive behind this violence.
The IHRC called on police in both Assam and Nagaland to launch a thorough, fair, and impartial probe. Investigators must review all video footage from the area and interview witnesses. The group wants those responsible held to account under the law. They argue that life carries value regardless of a person's background. As the organization stated, "A person's life cannot be taken through violence with impunity."
The council expects a transparent and timely resolution to the case. They demand that authorities respect the rights and dignity of the deceased throughout the process.
