Kohima: Dimapur police busted an organized drug syndicate operating across three states. The ring used commercial courier services, including DTDC Courier Services, to move cocaine. Officers seized approximately 33 grams of the suspected drug. The stash is now undergoing forensic examination.
Police arrested five suspects in a coordinated operation. Tohuka Sema, 35, identified as the major supplier, was taken into custody in Dimapur. Officers also grabbed Yeka Awomi, 30, in Pune, Maharashtra. Delhi police assisted in the arrest of 22-year-old Biresh Kumar and 35-year-old Akhtar Hussain. The fifth suspect, 25-year-old Swantheiba Inkah, acted as a delivery agent.
The syndicate functioned through a structured network. Roles included procurement, payment layering, and interstate transport. Investigators discovered international connections, specifically citing the alleged involvement of a Nigerian national. Two additional suspects remain on the run outside Nagaland. Authorities continue to track financial transactions and customer lists to map the full operation.
The West Police Station in Dimapur registered a formal case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The Deputy Commissioner of Police stated: "Dimapur Police reiterated its firm commitment to dismantling organised drug trafficking syndicates and ensuring that all persons involved in the illicit narcotics trade are brought to justice under the NDPS Act, 1985." Officials are asking the public to report any information regarding the drug trade. Confidentiality is guaranteed.
