Police Recover Decomposed Bodies of Couple in Agartala

Agartala: Police recovered two decomposed bodies from a house in Agartala on September 1. The victims are Suman Debbarma, 40, and Priya Debbarma, 39. They lived together for nearly three years. Neighbors and family members first sensed trouble Tuesday morning when a foul smell drifted from the home.

Suman’s sister entered the room and made the grim discovery. She found one person hanging and the other on the floor. Police officers arrived shortly after she called them to the scene. Investigators believe the couple died roughly two days before they were found. The exact cause of death remains unknown while officials wait for post-mortem results.

Suman’s brother-in-law, Ripesh Debnath, told reporters the pair had lived together for about three years and the bodies were discovered only after the smell became impossible to ignore. Relatives noted the pair fought often. Priya had a previous marriage, leading her family to oppose the new relationship. They urged the couple to either make their union legal or split up.

Officers collected evidence from the house and sent the remains for examination. Detectives have not ruled out suicide or other possibilities at this time. The investigation continues as police wait for medical reports to clarify how these two people died.
