Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha cut the ribbon on a revamped pond project at Ujan Abhoynagar Bazar on Saturday. The site received a major makeover to improve civic amenities and protect the urban water source. Officials funded the construction through the central AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
Workers added paved surfaces, a walking track, new lighting, and seating. They also put in green space for the public. These upgrades give residents and shoppers a dedicated spot for morning exercise or evening relaxation. Saha believes urban growth requires more than just concrete structures. He wants to balance development with the local ecosystem. "The state government was working to transform Agartala and other urban areas into modern, environmentally sustainable and visually appealing spaces," Saha said.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the vision driving connectivity and urbanization across Tripura. The Chief Minister also challenged locals to keep the area clean and protect the infrastructure. Several officials attended the launch, including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder and AMC Commissioner Saju Waheed. Urban Development Secretary Milind Ramteke, CEO GS Nayak, and various councillors and party workers joined them at the bazar.
