Agartala: Tripura is building a digital portal to track all state infrastructure projects. The Public Works Department aims to house existing, ongoing, and proposed works in one system. The initiative falls under the World Bank-funded Tripura Urban Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project. Officials expect to adopt the Integrated Transport Network Development Plan within 18 months.

Anup Kumar Das, Chief Engineer of the PWD road and building wing, oversees the build. “Through this plan, a digital portal will be created where information about existing infrastructure, ongoing projects and future projects of different departments will be compiled,” Das said. The database covers more than just pavement. It links airports, railways, bridges, and goods centers into one framework.

Planners want to connect rural villages and markets to major roads and railways. The roadmap integrates agricultural logistics and trade with Bangladesh. The proposal includes 416.47 km of new rural roads. Officials will also build two testing laboratories for rural goods plus new passenger transport hubs. “In future, the plan is to consider villages, markets, major roads, railways, goods transportation centres and border areas together so that the entire communication system can function in an integrated manner,” Das added.

This plan dictates where to put new transport centers. It maps out how to move farm produce efficiently. The department will use this data to identify necessary links for regional trade. It is a long-term play for state connectivity.
