Agartala: The Students Federation of India Tripura unit marched through Agartala on Sunday, October 4. They want Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar out of a job. The group claims Kumar is actively gutting the voting rights of citizens and undermining the Constitution of India.

Srijan Deb, the SFI state committee secretary, led the rally. He accused Kumar of siding with the BJP to strip people of their democratic voice. The protest follows a broader national movement that kicked off on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti. SFI activists held demonstrations nationwide that day. Deb reported that police used force against student leaders in Delhi during those events.

The group remains defiant. "Students, youth and common people across the country are protesting against Ganesh Kumar. We have joined the march in Agartala demanding his resignation," Deb said. He pointed to the past resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as proof that public pressure works. The SFI claims they will keep the heat on until Kumar steps down.
