Kohima: The District Disaster Management Authority in Zunheboto ramped up its monsoon readiness during an emergency meeting held July 29. Deputy Commissioner and DDMA Chairman Dharam Raj led the session at his office. The district needs a fast response. He ordered all local departments to stay vigilant and maintain clear lines of communication.
Raj stressed that disaster mitigation requires total departmental cooperation. "Disaster mitigation and response should not be the sole responsibility of the District Administration," he said. Every agency must now nominate dedicated officers for emergency coordination.
The NST Station Superintendent must keep the district helipad functional for emergency flights. Meanwhile, Home Guards and Fire services are on constant alert. The Urban Development Department will clear clogged drains and flood zones alongside the Zunheboto Town Council. Other groups including PWD (NH), PHED, and NHIDCL must report all restoration progress through the DDMA WhatsApp group.
Administrative officers now have direct oversight of Zunheboto Town colonies. Akumlong Amer takes charge of DC Hill East, DC Hill West, South Point East, South Point West, and Amiphoto. Tsoinchu Sangtam oversees North Point, Khuwaboto, Old Town, and Laghilato. Chuchong Noklang manages Alahuto, New Colony, Project East, and Project West. Families hit by disasters can request aid from the Emergency Relief Fund.
