Kohima: District Disaster Management Authority officials moved to clear a structural threat in Kiphire. Berela T, a District Project Associate for the DDMA, inspected a home in Medical Ward on September 7, 2026. The structure is failing. It sits on the verge of collapse.
Authorities acted fast to protect the neighborhood. The affected family moved to a safer location immediately as a precaution. A DIPR report confirmed the move, noting that the building now presents a clear danger to nearby residences. Officials want the building torn down soon. They warned that the structure must be dismantled at the earliest to prevent any untoward incident and further risk to surrounding properties.
