Kohima: Kiphire officials pushed for better disaster readiness on September 11. The District Legal Services Authority teamed up with the District Disaster Management Authority to host a one day awareness seminar. They want people to know how the system works.
District Project Associate Berela led the training session. He walked attendees through the core mechanics of disaster response. He delivered a presentation on “Brief Introduction to Disaster Management, Emergency Relief Fund (ERF) and SDRF- Norms of Assistance, Eligibility and Digital Relief Payout System.”
The talk broke down complex relief guidelines into clear steps. Officials explained how the digital payout system functions for those in need. They also spelled out the exact eligibility criteria required to collect aid.
Legal support remains a priority. The session highlighted the role of free legal services for disaster victims. According to a DIPR report, this ensures that those hit hardest by a crisis can get the help they deserve.
