Imphal: AMSU Vice-President Prikeshwor Moirangthem rallied students to confront the Manipur crisis head-on. The state remains trapped in turmoil since May 3, 2023. Moirangthem spoke at the Manipuri Students Freshers Meet 2026 in Silchar, Assam, held at Rajib Bhawan. The Assam Manipuri Students Union Silchar District Committee and the AAMSU Gurucharan University Unit hosted the event under the central committee.
He rejected the idea of the meet being a mere celebration. Instead, he framed the gathering as a call to action. Students must shoulder the duty of protecting their land, language, and culture. "The Sacrifice of Students Today is the Foundation of Tomorrow’s Society," the event theme stated. Moirangthem insisted that government promises must become concrete actions.
The leader pointed to armed Kuki-Zo groups operating under the Suspension of Operations agreement. He claimed the Central Government failed to address these threats despite public outcry. He urged students to stop acting like spectators. They must support displaced families and classmates struggling to stay in school. Unity is the only path forward. Attendees included Roshan Lukram, Omkar Samulailatpam, Satyajit Laishram, Dr. Nandababu Singha, and Dr. Merina Sagapam.
