AMSU Backs Dhanamanjuri University Scholars Over Missing Stipends

Imphal: The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) officially joined the fight today. They back the PhD research scholars at Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) who are currently protesting over unpaid stipends. The dispute covers students from the 2022, 2024, and 2026 batches.

Serto Rengneier Kom, the publicity secretary for AMSU, demanded action. He stated that the "ongoing agitation by DMU research scholars demanding the immediate release of their pending stipends is a legitimate movement and deserves the support of all concerned." There are 792 scholars waiting for payment across the university departments.

AMSU slammed the school for poor management. The university turned ten years old recently, yet it still lacks basic infrastructure and the facilities needed for students to work. The union argues these scholars drive higher education forward and the government must stop ignoring their needs.
