Imphal: The All Manipur Students Union launched its month-long Regeneration Month 2026 today at TG Higher Secondary School. The campaign runs from July 27 to August 27 and centers on the theme AMSU for Self-Reliant Manipur. It focuses on youth empowerment, education, and state socio-economic growth.
AMSU President Lukram Malangba Meitei presided over the opening ceremony. Former president and adviser Thokchom Suresh served as the chief guest. TG Higher Secondary Vice-Principal Nongmaithem Dhana Singh attended as the guest of honor. The event featured a ceremonial candle-lighting and the presentation of traditional Lengyan Phee.
Huidrom Punshiba Mangang, the group's organization secretary, delivered the welcome address. Secretary General Salam Changkhokhomba outlined the program goals. The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Information and Publicity Secretary Serto Rengneier Kom.
The union plans various public outreach events across the state throughout the month. These activities honor the legacy of the Hunger Marchers while pushing for social change. During the event, President Lukram Malangba Meitei addressed the crowd. He said, "AMSU appealed the people particularly the students community of the state to extend solidarity to the month-long observance of Hunger Marchers Day."
