INDIA Bloc Rallies Against Election Commission as BJP Stages Counter-Protests

Imphal: The INDIA bloc descended on the capital today for the Chalo Dilli march. Opposition leaders demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They claim the Election Commission ignored irregularities in voter rolls. They want answers now.

Rahul Gandhi led the march from the Minto Road and Connaught Place junction toward the Ramlila Maidan. Key figures joined him, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, Farooq Abdullah, Abhishek Banerjee, and Supriya Sule. A delegation from the Manipur INDIA bloc and the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee also took the stage. Former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, K. Ranjit Singh, Keisham Meghachandra Singh, and Kshetrimayum Santa represented the state delegation.

The BJP fired back with counter-demonstrations across Delhi and Haryana. They targeted the Congress for holding a rally on November 1, the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri marched in Hari Nagar. BJP national president Nitin Nabin led a Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao march in Rohtak.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the timing of the Opposition event. BJP leader J.P. Nadda dismissed the entire demonstration as a political stunt. Nadda stated, "Congress is disregarding the suffering of the 1984 riot victims." The dueling protests left the city gridlocked as both sides fought for the moral high ground on national television.
