Congress-Led INDIA Bloc Pushes Ahead With Delhi Protest Despite Trader Pleas

Shillong: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge confirmed the INDIA bloc will hold its mega protest at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on November 1. The rally aims to challenge alleged vote theft and irregularities tied to the Election Commission's SIR exercise. Kharge specifically blamed Election Commission official Gyanesh Kumar for the mischief. He emphasized that the opposition maintains full support for the action.

Traders in the capital previously asked Rahul Gandhi to postpone the event. They fear the rally will crush business during the critical festive season. Kharge dismissed these concerns, stating, "Our protest is continuing because of the vote theft and the mischief that Gyanesh Kumar has done in the Election Commission. We are protesting against that and will continue to do so."

The pushback remains firm. Rahul Gandhi issued a video message on X this morning urging a massive turnout. He framed the march as a movement to protect the Constitution and stop vote theft. Gandhi invited students from all political backgrounds to attend. He claims democratic freedoms face an immediate threat. A mock parliament event will also take place the day before the main rally.
