Imphal: The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) fanned out across Imphal West, Imphal East, and Kakching districts on Saturday. They held academic awareness programs to mark the 61st Hunger Marchers' Day and Regeneration Month, also known as Mathou Shangba Thabum. The union aims to reach students with messages of civic duty and discipline.
AMSU Vice-President Naorem Wangamba visited Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School alongside lecturer Aruna. Wangamba pushed students to build a progressive society through education. He warned that many youths fail to grasp the history of the Hunger Marchers. "Without embracing those ideals, he said, it would be difficult to build a better future for society." Wangamba argued that the state needs active youth to match the development levels of other regions.
Secretary General Salam Changkhonba led a second team to Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School, Millennium Institute of Science, and Shishu Nistha Niketan in Imphal West. Changkhonba noted a slide in moral standards and discipline among the younger generation. He stated that the Regeneration Month campaign exists to mold self-reliant citizens and achieve a "Self-Reliant Manipur."
In Kakching District, Organisation Secretary Huidrom Punshiba met with students at Royal Brighter Academy Higher Secondary School in Sora and Martin Grammar School. His team focused on the intersection of academic success and social responsibility. The union intends to continue these efforts as part of their ongoing commemorative events.
