Imphal: The All Manipur Students Union held an academic awareness event at Wangkhei High School in Imphal East on Thursday. This gathering marked the 61st Realisation Month. Students filled the room. AMSU Vice President Naorem Wangamba addressed the crowd alongside teacher Sunil Dutt Sharma, General Secretary Salam Changkhonba, and Library Secretary Nongthongbam Abinash.
Wangamba pushed the students to think beyond their textbooks. He argued that social problems persist because educated youth fail to act. Education must cover local history, cultural identity, and social values to build a stronger nation. He told the students, "education loses much of its purpose if the knowledge and values acquired are not applied for the welfare of society and the nation."
The union also tackled the sensitive Census process. They maintain a firm stance on current state issues. AMSU and supporting groups like the JFD demand the National Register of Citizens be updated first. They also insist that the government properly address the settlement of Internally Displaced Persons. The union plans to keep fighting for these interests alongside members of their Imphal East District Committee and school faculty.
