Imphal: The Irengbam Chaoren Memorial Trust is hosting its 2026 annual essay competition on October 18. The event takes place at Imphal College in Kwakeithel. Students will tackle the theme, "Importance of Nationalism in Contemporary Manipur." Organizers refer to the topic as "Houjikki Manipurda Nationalism gi Maruoiba."
The contest splits into two tiers. Category A covers students from Class VII through Class X with a 1,500-word limit. Category B includes students from Class XI up to graduation. These writers must submit between 2,500 and 3,000 words. Entrants can use English, Meitei Mayek, or Roman Script.
The trust dropped all entry fees for internally displaced persons. Everyone else can grab application forms at the Manipuri Students' Federation head office in Kwakeithel. The top three finishers in each group earn Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000, and Rs. 10,000. Seven consolation winners will walk away with Rs. 3,000 each. Every winner receives a certificate.
