Kakching Students Compete in Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign

Imphal: Kha Manipur College hosted a district-level Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan event in Kakching. Mera Yuva Bharat teamed up with the college NCC and NSS units to run the show. The program falls under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Principal Dr. O. Rudrababu Singh, District Youth Officer Vishal Dhakad, and former principal Yengkhom Raju Singh sat on the presidium.

Students faced off in dance, music, slam poetry, slogan writing, one-act play, painting, and debate. Tanem Morio Maring took the top music spot. Leishangthem Anjali Chanu won dance, with Nongmaithem Vladimir taking second. Nongthombam Bidyasagori Devi grabbed first in slogan writing, followed by runner-up Leishangthem Harison Singh. Mayangbam Avinash won the one-act play category. Yendrembam Mona Devi led painting, while Shagolsem Eliya Devi came second. Nongmaithem Priyadarshini topped slam poetry ahead of Staneviya Yumnam Chanu. Moirangthem Randeep Singh won the debate. Organizers handed out certificates and mementoes to every winner.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment started the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan on 15 August 2020. The project works to kill off substance abuse. It began in 272 vulnerable districts and now covers the whole country. The campaign focuses on awareness, prevention, counselling, treatment, rehabilitation, and social reintegration. Officials say it promotes a "whole-of-society approach towards a drug-free India." It specifically targets youth, women, children, and schools.
