Manipur Youth League Pushes for Clean MUSU Election

Imphal: The Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) is demanding a transparent election for the Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU). The 2026-2027 session vote takes place on September 28. MAYOL says picking leaders requires more than just finding good people. Real change demands active work.

The group has pushed for political awareness across Manipur since the 2024 Parliamentary election. They want students to choose honest, dedicated, and capable representatives. MAYOL stated that "merely entering politics or searching for good people would not be sufficient to bring meaningful change."

Students must act now. Manipur faces persistent corruption and various institutional challenges. University leaders hold the power to shape the future of the state. Candidates must reject the use of money, gifts, food, or any other inducements to buy votes. Students should refuse these handouts.

The league also banned indiscriminate poster pasting and property damage. Campaigns should avoid big gatherings and the distribution of intoxicating substances. Candidates and supporters must maintain discipline to protect the dignity of the institution. All stakeholders must work together to ensure the process remains fair and accountable.
