Kakching District Officials Review Electoral Roll Revision

Imphal: Election officials met at the DC Conference Hall in Kakching today to check progress on the Special Intensive Revision of the Electoral Roll. Haobam Rosita, the Electoral Roll Observer, chaired the session alongside Deputy Commissioner Angeline Renita R. The group gathered to ensure every eligible voter makes the cut.

District Election Officer Angeline Renita R reported significant headway in processing voter files. She noted that out of 82,401 required notices, crews settled 81,620 cases. Only 138 cases remain outstanding. "32,876 cases under other categories had also been settled without the need to generate notices," Renita R stated. Local political party reps attended the briefing to field questions and praise the work of the registration staff.

The clock is ticking. Officials published the draft roll on July 5, 2026. Citizens had until August 4 to file claims or objections. Staffers are currently grinding through the disposal process, which runs through September 2. The office expects to publish the final electoral roll on September 6, 2026, using a qualifying date of July 1, 2026.
