Imphal: Manipur election officials kicked off a statewide campaign to verify voter rolls and fix enrolment errors. The drive hits all 3,041 polling booths across the state. Officials want every eligible citizen on the list before Assembly elections begin early next year. The Chief Electoral Officer's office announced the push on October 12.
All 16 district election officers are managing the effort. Residents can meet with booth-level officers or reach out to 84 assistant electoral registration officers and 60 electoral registration officers for help. "We are committed to ensuring that no eligible voter is excluded from the voter list," the office stated.
This campaign follows the September 6 publication of the final electoral rolls. That update finalized a Special Intensive Revision process. The official list now holds over 19.60 lakh electors spread across 60 Assembly constituencies. Revision records show 1.89 lakh names removed and 56,871 added.
Chief Electoral Officer Arun Kumar Sinha confirmed the current breakdown of the electorate. The rolls include 9,53,350 men, 10,06,962 women, and 308 third-gender voters. Women currently outnumber men in the state registry.
