Kohima: Kohima officials gathered at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on August 19 to organize the Media Cell for the 2026 Special Intensive Revision of the Photo Electoral Roll. The meeting set the ground rules. Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem chaired the session to brief staff on their duties during the revision.
The team mapped out a plan for press releases, social media management, and media monitoring. They need to keep the public informed. Members prioritized strategies to kill fake news and misleading content before it spreads. They demanded the timely release of verified facts regarding the electoral timelines and procedures.
The group also explored ways to boost outreach efforts. They plan to lean on the District Icon and other media channels to get the word out. As the DIPR report stated, officials focused on "measures to counter fake news, misinformation and misleading content related to the SIR process." Everyone involved must keep the messaging sharp and consistent to ensure voters stay updated.

A separate session on August 20 pushed to bridge the gap between the media and the Nagaland Health Protection Society. Officials want better reporting on the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme to make sure no eligible resident gets left behind. CEO Thavaseelan K noted that these programs are not just paperwork, but essential support for families facing health crises. The state is setting up a WhatsApp group to keep reporters in the loop with frequent updates.
Dr. Yingnei Wangnao broke down the numbers for the health schemes. General beneficiaries get a 5 lakh rupee family floater, while employees and pensioners get a 20 lakh rupee annual limit. The coverage includes over 1,950 surgical packages across 27 clinical specialties. Patients can check the official portal to verify which hospitals are on the list. Government employees might grab extra cash for medical bills beyond the insured limit if the State Medical Board signs off on the case. While the plans cover major surgeries and pre-hospitalization needs, don't expect them to foot the bill for outpatient visits or standalone diagnostic tests. If a patient wants high-end gear like premium implants or special prosthetics, they have to pay the difference themselves.
Eligibility breaks down into three buckets. AB PM-JAY targets families from the 2011 SECC data and building workers, covering over 2.5 lakh households. CMHIS (General) catches indigenous and permanent residents left out of the national plan, plus contractual staff and workers lacking PIMS numbers. Government staff, pensioners, and ex-legislators fall under the CMHIS (EP) umbrella. While national beneficiaries get treated at any empanelled hospital across India, CMHIS (EP) patients stick to facilities linked specifically to their plan.
