Imphal: Manipur faces a downward spiral if the youth stay on the sidelines. Suresh Koijam, president of the Manipur Youth League, issued this warning during an interaction event held at the Modern College multipurpose hall. The program, titled Politics: Vote for National Regeneration, saw a joint effort between MAYOL and the Modern College Students Union.
Koijam stated that young people cannot afford detachment when the state sits at a breaking point. Current conditions are stagnant and reflect failures to tackle societal issues. He argued that the choices made by representatives dictate the future of every resident. Koijam said, "Meaningful change could be achieved when people came together, discussed common concerns and worked towards a shared vision for Manipur."
The current governance patterns raise red flags for the coming years. MAYOL formed specifically to push youth toward political involvement and collective progress. The organization hosts meetings across the state to trade ideas and spark public debate. Koijam emphasized that politics should function as a tool for development and public happiness rather than a burden.
The event also featured insights from Ch. Rajen, an associate professor in the Department of Economics at Modern College, and social scientist Dr. Dhanabir Laishram. MAYOL intends to keep hosting these discussions to drive its vision of social transformation.
