Itanagar: The Centre released 44.55 crore to Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday, August 2. This advance payment comes from the State Disaster Response Fund. Chief Minister Pema Khandu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the cash injection. The state needs the money now. Heavy monsoon rains have triggered flash floods and landslides across multiple districts, wrecking rural homes, farmland, and infrastructure.
Khandu says the money helps. It keeps the cleanup moving. "The timely support will significantly bolster our field operations in flood- and landslide-affected areas. On behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, I sincerely appreciate the Government of India's continued support to the welfare of our state during this difficult time," the chief minister said. The cash is part of a larger 2,117.85 crore package sent to seven states battling floods.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force are already on the ground working with local officials. The government also plans to send an Inter-Ministerial Central Team to the state soon. These experts will inspect the damage to property and agriculture firsthand. It is a massive task.
