Arunachal Pradesh Airlifts Supplies to Stranded Flood Victims

Itanagar: Torrential monsoon rains crippled road infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh, forcing the state to launch an emergency airlift on Wednesday, July 22. Heavy flooding severed ground access to the Upper Subansiri district, isolating remote villages in dire need of supplies. Heavy rains damaged critical roads and bridges.

Deputy Commissioner Tasso Gambo and MLA Taniya Soki coordinated with the Directorate of Civil Aviation to requisition helicopter support. The mission targeted the communities of Nilling, Lingdam, and Upper Giba. Aircraft ferried rice, medicines, and other essentials from Daporijo to the cutoff areas.

Local authorities managed the ground operation with precision. "The administration, in coordination with the police, Civil Supplies Department and other line departments, has arranged necessary security, emergency services and ground support at the helipads in accordance with DGCA guidelines," an official stated.

Officials will watch the area closely. Support will continue until road access returns to normal.
