Agartala: Chief Minister Manik Saha claims Tripura hit a turning point over the last eight years. The state doubled its Gross State Domestic Product in only six years. He addressed the crowd during Independence Day celebrations at the Assam Rifles Ground in Agartala on August 15. The government is pushing hard to lift socio-economic conditions through flagship programs.
Saha reported the state's per capita income now nears the national average. Crime is also down. Tripura recorded its lowest crime rate in two decades last year. This stable environment is drawing in new cash. The recent Destination Tripura Business Summit pulled in investment proposals worth Rs 1.32 lakh crore. Representatives from 10 foreign embassies attended the event.
State efforts have gained significant traction. Tripura earned 360 national and regional awards for work in agriculture, rural development, and Panchayati Raj. Saha noted that these measures aim for balanced growth. He said, "The state government’s development initiatives have received national recognition."
Healthcare remains a top priority. The state signed a deal with AIIMS, New Delhi to upgrade services at GBP Hospital in Agartala. This partnership aims to overhaul the local delivery system. Meanwhile, the administration settled 6,935 Bru families repatriated from Mizoram. These families now reside in Tripura following an agreement with the Centre to solve their displacement.
