Agartala: Tripura ministers led state-wide celebrations on Saturday to mark India’s 80th Independence Day. Officials hoisted the national flag and demanded renewed dedication to national sovereignty.

Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath presided over the main ceremony at the Tripura Secretariat grounds in Agartala. He inspected a parade of security forces and warned citizens to remain vigilant. “It is our duty to protect the country with our lives, to identify enemies of independence, and to pledge for a strong, self-reliant India,” Nath said. He pushed for collective efforts across all sectors, from farms to power grids, to ensure a developed nation by 2047.

In Khowai, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma addressed a crowd at the Khowai Airport ground. Senior officials joined him, including District Magistrate Rajat Pant, Superintendent of Police Jagadishwar Reddy, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nirmal Kumar Jha. Members of the Tripura State Rifles, Tripura Police, Women Police, and NSS units marched in the parade. Local artists performed patriotic dances. Debbarma stressed that freedom is a multi-generational burden.

Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma led events at the Bishramganj School grounds. He began his day by hoisting the tricolour at his official Agartala residence, where he later handed out sweets to police and Tripura State Rifles staff. Debbarma emphasized that the courage of past martyrs remains a permanent guide for modern progress.

All three ministers echoed the same themes. They called for strengthening unity, peace, and democratic values. The events served as a reminder that the national flag represents a long history of struggle. Citizens across the state gathered to honor that legacy.
