Agartala: Violence shattered the Independence Day celebration at Churaibari Higher Secondary School in Tripura on Saturday. A brawl erupted between student factions during the morning cultural events. Six students ended up wounded after the fight turned physical.

The injured victims sought help at Kadamtala Social Hospital. Doctors later moved them to Dharmanagar District Hospital for better care. Tensions reached a boiling point over alleged membership fee collections by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, also known as the ABVP.

ABVP member Birat Nath claimed a mob of nearly 30 students launched an unprovoked attack against his colleagues. Fellow activist Arghadeep Debnath echoed these claims, citing long-standing disputes over fees. "A group of nine to ten students storming into the school premises and beating them before they managed to escape," said Imran Hossain and Sanu Choudhury, who blamed the ABVP for the violence.

Four ABVP members and two other students sustained injuries during the scuffle. The list of the wounded includes Tanish Pal, Himadri Nath, Birat Nath, and Akash Malakar. Police from the Churaibari station secured the school grounds as the situation spiraled. Officials deployed Tripura State Rifles jawans to keep the peace and prevent further clashes.

Both sides filed complaints with the police. They now demand a full investigation into the matter. The campus remains under heavy guard as authorities try to restore order following the holiday disruption.
