Tripura Chief Minister Honors Police and NCC Cadets on Independence Day

Agartala: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha handed out state awards at the Assam Rifles Ground in Agartala this Saturday. He recognized police officers and personnel for their hard work, honesty, and professional skill. It was a busy day for the force. The Chief Minister presented awards meant for last year's recipients of the President's medals.

Director General of Police in-charge G.S. Rao took home the President's Medal for Distinguished Service. The President's Medal for Meritorious Service went to a long list of officers. This included Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma, Superintendent of Police Maniklal Das, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Debbarma. SDPO Pannalal Sen, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyamal Debbarma, and 8th Battalion TSR Subedar Niranjan Debbarma also received honors.

More medals for Meritorious Service went to DIGP Northern Range Ratiranjan Debnath and several others. The list includes 1st Battalion TSR Subedar Pashuram Debbarma, 5th Battalion TSR Havildar Dilip Kumar Singh, Special Branch Constable Dhruv Kapali, Police Training Academy Constable Uttam Debnath, and North District Constable Hemendra Chandra Nath. Sub-Inspector Jhutan Jamatia earned the Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence.

NCC cadets who joined the Republic Day camp in New Delhi last year stepped up to the podium as well. The group included Senior Under Officer Salka Debbarma, Senior Under Officer Joydeep Saha, and Under Officer Sagarika Majumdar. Under Officer Krishna Vaishnav, Cadet Shahit Debbarma, and Cadet Akash Jamatia also received their medals from the Chief Minister. Officials noted, "The certificates and medals for the 2026 awardees will be formally presented during the 2027 Republic Day celebrations."
