Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh handed out 23 state awards during the 80th Independence Day celebration. The state recognized individuals and organizations for service. The awards included two Gold Medals, five Silver Medals, and 16 Commendation Certificates.
Swachh Silluk Abhiyan from East Siang and Sub-Inspector Tamo Bakhang of Chimpu Police Station took home Gold Medals. Silver Medals went to APCS officer Nangram Pingkap, the Namsai District Library, Assistant Engineer Tei Taba, Sub-Inspector Gemo Jini, and DPDO Lijum Ete. Sixteen others received Commendation Certificates for their work in police, healthcare, education, forestry, and administration.
Recipients include Taku Ropuk, Koli Hali, Gyamar Niakum, Horda Lona, Suti Yamo Tamur, and Kathi Nath Upadhyay. Dr. Ani Siram, Captain Chirag Singhal, Maga Tago, Karmar Kamiki, Samir Pradhan, Pradeep Mandal, Ashok Singh, Tahong Taga, Lobom Tamin, and Poosam Tangha also earned certificates.
Top police officials also received national honors. IPS Superintendent Sudhanshu Dhama accepted the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry. Deputy Commandant Nikom Riba of the 4th IRBN earned the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
The state also announced the Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2026. West Kameng district won for its Integrated Sanitary Complex-cum-Kameng Cafeteria project. The Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society earned recognition for its Mobilization for AIDS Suraksha Achievements initiative. Finally, the Deputy Commissioner of Pakke Kessang received an award for the Pakke-Kessang Model. Officials stated the program was a success due to the "successful resolution and demarcation of the agreed Assam-Arunachal boundary."
