Itanagar: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi demanded answers on Wednesday, November 4, regarding repeated Chinese incursions into Arunachal Pradesh. He urged the Centre to ditch its silence on developments along the Line of Actual Control. Local groups and politicians have tracked these suspicious movements for months. Gogoi pointed to admissions from the Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, who confirmed face-offs at several sites. "Neither side has denied the face-offs," Gogoi noted while questioning the official government response.
The lawmaker drew parallels to the 1986 Wangdung intrusion, an event the government brought before Parliament. He argued that the current lack of transparency resembles the handling of the 2020 Ladakh crisis. Six years later, the status quo remains broken. Gogoi blasted the government for using vague terms like different perceptions and improved understanding. This language only helps China make small, incremental land grabs. He believes this constant ambiguity hurts India.
Gaurav Gogoi cited former Ambassador to China Ashok Kantha to back his stance. Hiding these intrusions restricts Indian patrols and weakens the national position. The MP wants the government to publicly identify major transgressions and bring the issue to the highest political levels. He insists that honest, direct engagement remains the only way to defend Indian territory. The government must quit the secrets and define exactly where the border lies.
