Itanagar: Border Roads Director General Lt Gen Harpal Singh opened a 460-foot bridge over the Lohit River this Tuesday. The Meshai Hybrid Bridge links isolated settlements in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh. The 1444 Bridge Construction Company finished the job under the Border Roads Organisation Project Udayak.

This structure helps traffic reach Walong, Kibithu, Meshai, Dong, and Kaho. It creates a vital path for locals and security forces alike. The region frequently deals with washed-out bridges during the monsoon season. Singh praised the construction crew for their grit during the project.

"The bridge as an important milestone in the development of border infrastructure," Singh said. He noted the team fought hard terrain and bad weather to finish the span on time.

Project Udayak Chief Engineer S K Verma and Commanding Officer Pankaj Swasat joined local officials, Army members, and Indo-Tibetan Border Police at the site. The route aims to boost tourism near the international border. It ensures reliable movement across the frontier, keeping the area connected even during heavy rains.
