Tripura CM Targets Drug Peddlers Following Agartala Pond Visit

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha issued a blunt warning to drug peddlers on Monday, August 3. He promised that nobody involved in the narcotics trade would escape the law. The Chief Minister demanded that police clear out illegal activity in the area immediately. He issued these orders while inspecting restoration work at the historic Prabhubari Pond in Agartala.

Saha told officials to finish the pond project quickly. He said, "I have instructed the SDPO that from today onwards, no drug-related activities should be allowed here. No one involved in such illegal activities will be spared. Such immoral activities cannot be tolerated under any circumstances." The Sub-Divisional Police Officer promised the Chief Minister that police would take strict action to stop the drug trade.

The restoration project matters for the environment and the neighbors. Local residents use the track around the pond daily for exercise. Saha confirmed the state has already renovated 30 to 35 water bodies across the city. He wants the current project finished just like the others. Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation and the local corporator joined him on site to monitor the ongoing work.
