Agartala: Agartala is buzzing. The city is alive with lights, devotional music, and crowds of families gathering at local puja pandals to mark the start of Ganesh Chaturthi. This early surge of activity signals the official kickoff of the local festive season.

The momentum will only build from here. These celebrations act as a prelude to next month’s Durga Puja, the most significant event on the Bengali cultural calendar. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha visited the city on Sunday evening to get things moving. He inaugurated three separate puja sites, including those run by the Ganapati Samajik Sanstha, the Ekdanta Club, and the Grassroot Samajik Sanstha located at Jackson Gate.

Crowds flocked to these spots as the venues glowed with elaborate decorations. Young people are doing the heavy lifting here. They are managing cultural programs, handling decorations, and organizing the daily arrangements at each site. This is a massive community effort.

The Ekdanta Club plans to keep the energy high throughout the week. They have booked singer Debolina Nandy for a live show on September 16. The city is ready. As residents noted, "The lights, decorations, music and crowds at the puja venues offer a glimpse of what lies ahead." With Durga Puja nearing, Agartala is deep in the swing of its busiest time of year.
