Agartala: Tripura Police, Assam Rifles, and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence intercepted a major drug shipment in Panisagar. They stopped a Tata truck arriving from Assam, bound for Agartala, at a designated checkpoint. The bust followed specific intelligence tips.
Officers searched the vehicle alongside an Executive Magistrate. They found a secret compartment built into the truck. Inside sat 50 kilograms of yaba tablets, totaling five lakh pills. These drugs carry an estimated international market value of Rs 40 crore.
Authorities arrested the driver on the spot. Panisagar SDPO Kishlaya Shishodia confirmed the operation targeted the flow of synthetic narcotics through the Northeast. Police filed a formal case against the suspect. He is now appearing before a court to face charges.
