Guwahati: Assam Police stopped a massive drug shipment early Wednesday morning. Officers intercepted a truck at the Sribhumi toll gate after receiving a tip. The vehicle, registered as AS 01 VC 3157, carried a hidden cargo. Police found 66,000 suspected Yaba tablets stashed inside a secret compartment.
The haul has a street value of nearly Rs 10 crore. Officers arrested the driver, Suman Uddin, and his co-driver, Taj Uddin. Both men remain in custody for interrogation. Investigators want to know where the pills came from and who was meant to receive them.
Authorities are tracking potential links to a larger trafficking syndicate operating near the border. "Following the seizure, Sribhumi Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and launched a detailed investigation." Detectives are now reviewing the truck's travel history to find other suspects.
