Guwahati: Cachar police landed a massive blow against drug trafficking on Sunday. Officers seized 80,000 Yaba tablets worth roughly Rs 16 crore. The drugs were headed out of state. Police acted on a tip regarding a high-value shipment moving through the district. They intercepted a luxury vehicle in Moynagarh to conduct a search.
The tablets sat hidden in a secret compartment. The car came from Mizoram. Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das led the operation. Officers arrested the driver, Shamsul Hussain Laskar, at the scene. He remains in custody for questioning as detectives hunt for the source and destination of the haul.
Investigators are now picking apart the vehicle to find more evidence. They want to expose the wider network behind this interstate pipeline. Officials described the find as a "major narcotics seizure" for the region. The investigation continues as police track the connections behind the massive shipment.
