Cachar Police Seize 70,000 Yaba Tablets, Arrest Two Brothers

Guwahati: Cachar police seized 70,000 suspected yaba tablets during a raid in South Krishnapur village. Officers targeted a rented room tucked behind a mobile phone shop on Friday. They arrested two brothers, 47-year-old Ajmal Uddin Laskar, also known as Raju, and 28-year-old Azim Uddin Laskar. Both men live in Syedpur Part-I.

Ajmal Laskar is married to the former president of the Syedpur Gaon Panchayat in the Sonai constituency. Acting on a tip, police searched the Rahim's Shop area under the jurisdiction of Silchar Police Station. They found seven packets of contraband weighing roughly 7.6 kg. The brothers were taken into custody at the scene.

Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das supervised the operation. Investigators are now tracing the source of the drugs and looking for other members of the supply chain. Regarding the ongoing probe, officials noted, "Legal proceedings have been initiated against the two accused as the investigation into the suspected drug network continues." Police continue to hold both suspects as the case develops.
