Police and NCB Seize Rs 3.2 Crore in Yaba Tablets in South Tripura

Agartala: South Tripura police and the Narcotics Control Bureau teamed up to bust a major drug smuggling ring. They seized 8 kg of Yaba tablets worth Rs 3.2 crore during a raid at Jolaibari. The stash included 80,000 individual pills hidden inside a tipper truck loaded with stone chips.

Officers moved in after getting a tip about the shipment. The team searched the truck and pulled out eight packets of the illegal cargo. Three people now face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police are still hunting for the rest of the trafficking network.

Bapi Debbarma, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Santirbazar, led the operation alongside Inspector Arunodaya Das and SI Khokan Das. The agencies coordinated the strike to hit the drug trade hard. "The operation highlights the coordination between Tripura Police and the NCB in tackling narcotics trafficking in the state," police said. Investigators are currently tracking the connections behind this specific shipment.
