Guwahati: Police busted two suspected drug peddlers in Assam’s Moran area yesterday. Officers from the Moranhat Police Station intercepted the men at Tiloijan Oufulia Tiniali on the Moran-Naharkatia road after receiving a reliable tip. It was a clean hit.
The suspects are Dipjyoti Das from Sivasagar and Biswajit Mahan from Chepan. Authorities recovered 15.91 grams of a substance believed to be contraband covered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Moranhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Dipjyoti Sonowal led the operation under the watch of senior officials. The suspects are now in custody. Police are currently interrogating them to find the source of the stash and map out the local supply network. “The two accused have been taken into police custody and are being questioned to ascertain the source of the suspected drugs and gather information about the alleged supply network,” police stated.

In a separate crackdown in Nagaon district, Jakhalabandha police nabbed Mujamil Hussain and Laden Ojha at Gorubandha Chariali. Officers pulled five containers of suspected narcotics from Ojha's pocket and seized a motorcycle, registration number AS 31 F 5376. Investigators claim the pair moved from Lanka to rent a house in Gorubandha specifically to peddle drugs.
Meanwhile, Bongaigaon police are probing a death after finding an unidentified man hanging from a desk on the veranda of a hotel across from Bongaigaon Medical College. A medical prescription found in the dead man's pocket is the only lead currently pointing toward his identity or recent whereabouts.

In a separate development, Kathiatoli police took Pankaj Bora into custody following accusations from his wife and 13-year-old daughter. The pair claimed Bora sexually abused the girl repeatedly over the last two years at their home in Dikrum Karbi village. Local residents confronted the man before handing him over to officers. Police are now digging into the case to verify the claims.
