Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma pointed to farmer welfare and administrative reform as the primary victories of his Zoram People’s Movement government. He spoke Friday at a ZPM party conference in East Lungdar village. The Chief Minister dismissed critics who claim his administration has failed to produce change. "One of the key strengths of our government is its commitment to supporting and uplifting farmers. Those who claim they cannot see any change in governance simply do not wish to acknowledge them," Lalduhoma said.
His government now guarantees prices for five specific crops: ginger, broom grass, chilli, turmeric, and broom bamboo. Officials plan to expand this list. The state is also pushing cluster-based farming to boost production and market access in designated regions. Lalduhoma claimed the government has abandoned the loose spending habits of previous administrations to ensure better use of public funds.
Infrastructure remains a top priority. The state awaits approval for a Rs 250-crore road project connecting Artahkawn and Zawlsei. This 65-km stretch sits in the Hrangturzo constituency. Hrangturzo MLA and political adviser Lalmuanpuia Punte added details to the local development agenda. He announced that East Lungdar will host the Tuichangral area's first artificial turf football ground. Work on the Rs 15-crore Artahkawn to Biate road should start this coming dry season. Punte credited the ZPM with turning around failing state public sector undertakings.
