Aizawl: Mizoram Legislative Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama announced the monsoon session begins August 25. The session marks the seventh sitting since the Zoram People's Movement government took control in December 2023 under Chief Minister Lalduhoma.
The Business Advisory Committee meets later this week to set the final schedule. This group, chaired by the Speaker and featuring members from every legislative party, will map out the duration and agenda. Speaker Lalbiakzama said, "The BAC, chaired by him and comprising representatives of all legislature parties, will decide the detailed schedule and business for the upcoming session."
The 40-member house remains firmly in the hands of the ruling ZPM, which commands 27 seats. The opposition Mizo National Front holds 10 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party counts two legislators, while the Congress party holds one seat.
