Mizoram Assembly Monsoon Session Starts August 25

Aizawl: Mizoram's legislative assembly meets August 25. The monsoon session kicks off then. Speaker Lalbiakzama confirmed the date as the state prepares for its seventh sitting under Chief Minister Lalduhoma’s Zoram People's Movement government.

The Business Advisory Committee meets later this week to set the final schedule and agenda. This committee includes the Speaker and representatives from all political parties in the house. The government took power in December 2023.

Numbers define the current house. The ZPM holds 27 seats in the 40-member chamber. The Mizo National Front sits in opposition with 10 members. The BJP holds two seats, and the Congress holds one. Regarding the upcoming session, Speaker Lalbiakzama stated, "The duration and agenda of the sitting to be finalised by the Business Advisory Committee later this week."
