Aizawl: Mizoram Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar demanded stronger unity between northeastern states this Saturday, November 7. He spoke at the Seven Sisters' Cultural Meet 2026, held at the Zokhua traditional village in Falkawn near Aizawl. Hmar argued that collective work will drive more growth than individual efforts.

The minister pushed back against people who treat the Northeast as separate from the rest of India. He reminded the crowd that the region remains a vital part of the nation. "We are all one and the same country," he stated. History and geography bind these states together despite their many cultural differences.

Delegates from all eight states attended the event. Representatives from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim performed traditional dances. Hmar urged attendees to share these cultural traditions back home.

Hmar hosted the event alongside several key government officials. DP&AR Secretary YLN Reddy and Art and Culture Director Carol V.L.M.S. Dawngkimi joined him. The minister welcomed the visitors and invited them to return to Mizoram in the future.
