Aizawl: Mizoram Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar met with senior central officials in New Delhi this Wednesday. He wants more federal support for state tourism projects. Hmar, who also heads the Sports department, pitched an ambitious plan to build a new tourism circuit in Aizawl and its surrounding areas. This development carries a price tag of 250 crore rupees.

Hmar argued that tourism serves as a vital economic engine for the state. Large industries are scarce in Mizoram. Investing in infrastructure will create jobs and boost local revenue. The minister held talks with Tourism Secretary Bhuvnesh Kumar and Information and Broadcasting Secretary Chanchal Kumar to advance the proposal.

The Centre pushed back with specific requirements for service quality. Tourism Secretary Bhuvnesh Kumar noted the sector needs a more professional workforce. He specifically identified a "need to train more tourism service providers, particularly tour guides." Officials also insisted that accommodation facilities must improve to handle the rising number of visitors. These combined efforts aim to expand the state economy through better infrastructure and hospitality.
