Mizoram Pitches State as Northeast Hub for Event Tourism

Aizawl: Mizoram is making a play for the event tourism market. Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar pitched the state to organizers at the North East Events and Entertainment Leaders Summit, known as Imaginarium 2.0, held in Guwahati. Hmar sees massive economic growth potential in the move. He wants to create jobs and boost local businesses.

Hmar urged professionals to look at the state for their next big projects. He pointed to better air and rail links as key selling points. Travel is easier now. He highlighted the state's natural beauty and clean environment as prime assets for conferences and festivals. "Come and host your events in Mizoram, amid our scenic hills and valleys, pristine rivers and clean environment. We will warmly welcome you," he said.

The Tourism Department and the Information and Public Relations Department teamed up to show off the state. They presented a video detailing a specific tourism calendar and current government initiatives. The summit, which gathered stakeholders from across the hospitality and entertainment sectors, wrapped up on July 19. Officials spent two days building strategies to grow the sector across the Northeast.
