Guwahati: Assam and Mizoram are linking up to boost tourism. Ministers met Saturday in Guwahati to finalize the plan. Mizoram Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar and Assam Tourism Minister Ajanta Neog held talks at Neog’s residence.
Hmar pointed to a surge in visitors. Mizoram gained a rail connection in September. This changed everything. He noted that Assam provides the most tourists to his state. Hmar said, "Most tourists visiting Mizoram come from Assam." He argued this reality makes closer coordination vital for future growth.
The two states will now run joint promotional campaigns. Their departments will work in a more structured way. Neog pledged the Assam government's full support for the partnership. She expects the collaboration to benefit both states. The ministers believe this push will help the entire Northeast region. They want the area to become a top destination for travelers across India.
