Guwahati: Air India Express is waiving cargo fees to help flood-hit Assam. The move aims to speed up the delivery of emergency supplies to the state. It helps registered NGOs and recognized relief groups get goods where they are needed most.
The waiver covers food, dry rations, and drinking water. It also includes medicines, sanitation kits, clothing, blankets, and tarpaulins. Every shipment must still pass the airline's standard verification and carriage policies.
Flights to Guwahati carry the relief items. The airline currently runs six daily flights from Delhi, three from Bengaluru, and two from Kolkata. These routes provide several options to move heavy aid quickly.
Groups need to reach out to get started. Interested organizations can email relief@airindiaexpress.com or call +91 7982118680 to provide their details. The airline's cargo team handles the logistics. They manage shipment acceptance, packaging, and flight allocation. The airline said this "initiative is intended to support the ongoing humanitarian response and ensure faster delivery of essential supplies to flood-affected regions of Assam." All cargo remains subject to space and operational capacity.
