Agartala: Students and research scholars in Agartala are keeping up the heat. They demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protest entered its third consecutive day at the Circuit House on Wednesday. It shows no sign of stopping.
The movement started Tuesday at Tripura University. Participants marched from Building No. 11 to the Open Theatre. They carried banners reading We Stand for Education and We Stand with Sonam Wangchuk. They also displayed posters featuring caricatures of Wangchuk. These carried slogans like All Is Not Well and Standing with courage, standing with truth.
Organizers say the effort aims for systemic transparency. They want protection for student merit and quality public education. The demonstrators specifically blame recurring paper leaks for their anger. One protester stated, "We are here because corruption in education is destroying opportunities for honest students. We want transparency, accountability, and fairness."
Student speakers hit back at critics. They rejected claims that their movement is anti-national. They pointed out that innovators like Wangchuk deserve respect, not labels. They also alleged that ABVP members hijacked a peaceful rally attempt on July 20. Student leaders argued that staying silent during this crisis helps the oppressor.
The movement focuses on four central demands. They want Pradhan out. They want transparency, administrative accountability, and an end to exam corruption. The Agartala group is linking their fight to national protests in Delhi. They feel authorities there have used police force to silence dissent. "If the government ignores us, our voices will only grow louder," one student leader declared.
