Shillong: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) is backing Meghalaya’s deficit teachers in their push for better service conditions. Party president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit demanded that the state government stop stalling on these legitimate grievances. It is time for action. The party slammed the administration for bureaucratic arrogance and a lack of empathy toward educators.
Teachers are currently fighting for the Contributory Provident Fund (CPF), Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears, and retirement benefits. These issues remain unresolved despite frequent agitation from the teaching community. The VPP argued that administrative officers must drop their sense of superiority and start serving the people who actually build society.
The party warned that ignoring the foundation of the education system shows a total failure of governance. They insist that the state must hold meaningful talks with teacher associations immediately. The VPP issued a blunt warning in their latest statement: “Teachers deserve respect, not indifference; justice, not excuses.” The party hopes this pressure forces the government to stop offering empty assurances and finally make concrete decisions.
